Hawaiian Hurricane Popcorn

A blend of Japanese and Hawaiian influences, this savory umami-rich popcorn is an addictive treat with an island flair.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup popcorn

1/4 cup avocado oil

2 sticks of butter

Furikaki

Sea salt

Rice crackers

Steps:

  1. Make clarified butter by melting the butter slowly and straining the milk solids when it separates from the butter. You can strain this through either a coffee filter or paper towel. It is best to do this when it is still hot.

  2. Heat the avocado oil in a large pot and add the popcorn kernels to high heat.

  3. When the popcorn slows down from a rapid pop, turn the stove off and pour the popcorn to a large bowl. 

  4. Drizzle the melted butter to your liking, as well as the sea salt, furikake, and rice crackers.

  5. My secret ingredient is sprinkling Hidden Valley ranch seasoning at the end.
